SELMER Adolphe Saxは、サックスの元祖として知られるアドルフ・サックス氏の遺産を受け継いだ楽器です。
このモデルは、1931年から1944年頃まで製造されていたとされ、1928年にアドルフサックスカンパニーがSELMERに買収された後に誕生しました。
初期のモデルはアドルフサックスの部品や工具を活用して製造されており、当時の製法がそのまま引き継がれています。
1936年頃まではアドルフサックスの特徴が色濃く残っていましたが、135,000番台以降になるとSELMER独自の部品や工具が組み合わされ次第にSELMERスタイルの構造へと進化していきました。

History
The Selmer Adolphe Sax is an instrument that carries forward the legacy of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone.
This model is believed to have been produced from around 1931 to 1944, following SELMER’s acquisition of the Adolphe Sax Company in 1928.
Early versions were built using original parts and tooling from the Adolphe Sax company, preserving many of the manufacturing methods from that era.
Up until around 1936, the instruments still strongly reflected the design philosophy of Adolphe Sax. However, starting from the 135,000 serial number range, Selmer gradually introduced its own components and tooling, leading the model toward what would become Selmer’s distinctive design style.
Through this transition, the Adolphe Sax model came to embody a unique blend of traditional saxophone craftsmanship and emerging modern techniques.
Tonally, it offers a balanced sound that blends brightness and darkness. Rather than emphasizing sharpness or a smoky character, it delivers a smooth, well-rounded tone that suits a wide range of musical styles.
